Bob Astrope

A long-time advocate of our proposed road, Bob served three terms on City Council and was a member of the Society’s inaugural Board of Directors.  In the early days he joined a delegation to Victoria and met with Ministry engineers to discuss the possibilities of the road.  He continues to support and advise us.

Glenn Allen

Born and raised in Powell River, Glenn has academic credentials in cartography, surveying (geomatics),  wildlife conservation and civil engineering.  For 25 years, his consulting firm, Accurate Location Surveys, has engaged in road location, survey and design, bridge/crossing topographic surveys for design, project monitoring and supervision of remote access road construction and bridge installations.  Currently semi-retired, Glenn is a past member of our Board of Directors.

Mark Anderson

Mark recently retired as a Registered Professional Forester from his position of District Manager of the Sunshine Coast Forest District after a 34 year career including stops in Quesnel, Nelson, Squamish, and Powell River. He is currently involved in several local advisory boards in the community.


Ken Dickson

Ken is a retired civil engineer. He has overseen the construction of several tunnels.

Eivind Grøv

Eivind is a professor of engineering. His expertise is internationally recognized. He is Past President of the Norwegian Tunneling Association and Past Vice President of the International Tunneling Association. Click here for his full CV.

Mark Hassett

Born and raised in Powell River, Mark is semi-retired.  His main business interest was 3 Leaf Contracting Ltd.  Active in the community, Mark served as a Director of the Powell River Chamber of Commerce and several other organizations.  He continues to serve as a Director of Powell River Community Forest and the Community Advisory Committee for the Forestry Industry.

Rick Hamner

Rick is a Board member and a pilot with British Columbia Coastal Pilots Ltd.  He advises us regarding navigational matters in our coastal waters.  Pilots board all inbound foreign vessels in the vicinity of Victoria to ensure effective navigation in our coastal waters.

Tom Hay

Tom is a semi-retired structural engineer. He did the design work for the ATV bridge on Squirrel Creek, near the approach to the Lausman Pass.

Rob Villani

Rob is our legal counsel.

Andre Villeneuve

Andre has over 33 years of experience in the mining and construction industries, and has been working since 1989 as an independent mining and civil consultant. He has extensive project and construction management as well as construction claims resolution experience with a wide range of mining, hydroelectric, heavy civil and industrial construction projects in the Americas, Africa and Australasia.  He is fluent in English, French and Spanish with a working knowledge of Portuguese.   He graduated from the University of Montreal (Ecole Polytechnique) in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering.  Andre is currently President and sole owner of the engineering firm 8074046 Canada Inc.
